  • Russia Is Launching Its Fastest Cargo Ship to the Space Station Today Watch Live

The entire event since the launch of the unmanned spacecraft until docking aired live on NASA Television and the agency's website. Liftoff of the Progress' Soyuz rocket from Russia's Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan came at 2:51 p.m. PT. The unmanned spacecraft loaded with almost three tons of supplies docked at the station in automatic mode less than four hours after the launch. The of late concluded flight was made to display accelerated capacity that may be utilized on subsequent Russian cargo and crew launches wrote NASA officials.

Russia's space agency, Roscosmos, said the faster trip was possible because of a new version of the Soyuz booster rocket.

It's incredibly impressive, considering the previous record was a whopping five hours and 39 minutes. The Pirs compartment will be replaced with a new module, the long-delayed Multipurpose Laboratory Module, which was originally scheduled to join the ISS in 2007. Over those 40 years, the vast majority of Progress launches have taken 34-orbit (2-day) journeys to whatever space stations (Salyut 6, Salyut 7, Mir, or ISS) they have resupplied. Elon Musk's SpaceX Dragon commercial cargo supplier and Northrop Grumman's Cygnus take several days to reach the station.

Wimbledon 2018 semifinals: Rafa Nadal-Novak Djokovic, John Isner-Kevin Anderson
Nadal, the 2008 and 2010 champion, will now face three-time victor Djokovic for the 52nd time with the Serb holding a 26-25 edge. Yet the latter is in the better form overall and remains formidable once he gets to the business end of a tournament.

Progress 70 pronounced Russia's third such fast-track attempt.

The same thing happened with the Progress 69 cargo launch in February.

"A ideal launch", Navias said of Progress 70's liftoff. That put the spacecraft about eight minutes ahead of schedule. That mission, HTV-7, will take about 4 hours to reach the ISS after launching from Japan's Tanegashima Space Center.
