Counterintelligence agent Peter Strzok worked on Special Council Robert Mueller's investigation of Trump's 2016 presidential campaign and allegations of collusion with Russian Federation until a year ago, when he was removed after text messages he exchanged with former FBI lawyer Lisa Page were revealed, showing their mutual contempt for Trump.

Congressional investigators were set for a private interview with Page on Wednesday, but her attorney said Tuesday she did not have time to prepare and would not appear. It was then that he heard the news that she may defy the subpoena and refuse to testify and condemned it as a "total disgrace".

"If she wants to come plead the Fifth, that's her choice", he added.

Lisa Page today defied a House of Representatives issued Subpoena to testify before Congress!

Page and FBI counterintelligence agent Peter Strzok, with whom she was having an extramarital affair, have been a target of congressional Republicans critical of the agency's investigations into Hillary Clinton's email server and possible Russian meddling in the 2016 election.

Page's lawyer Amy Jeffress told CBS News' Paula Reid that she and Page on Tuesday went to the Federal Bureau of Investigation, her former employer, to review the materials that were sent to Congress, but they were not shown any documents after waiting more than three hours.

If Page doesn't agree to either of these options, the chairmen of the two panels, Judiciary's Bob Goodlatte and Oversight's Trey Gowdy, told her lawyer that she would face contempt of Congress proceedings.

"Through her actions and words, Lisa has made it abundantly clear that she will cooperate with this investigation".

And for me, big occasions, big players, and numerous players they were not there in the big occasion. Just four teams remain, all of them from Europe: Belgium, France , Croatia , and England.

A report by the Justice Department's internal watchdog released last month detailed the inflammatory texts between the two, including an exchange in which Strzok wrote "we'll stop it" in reference to a potential Trump election win. President Trump continued in a subsequent tweet.

President Trump accused Page and her "FBI lover", Agent Peter Strzok, of "getting cold feet" about their testimony on Twitter Monday.

Earlier he said Page appears to have "something to hide" by not appearing.

The House Judiciary and Oversight and Government Reform Committees are interested in Page as part of their investigation into what they say is bias at the Justice Department.

Strzok will testify publicly before the committees on Thursday.

Strzok was removed from Mueller's team when the texts were discovered previous year.

Mueller, a Republican, removed Strzok from the inquiry when he learned about the text exchanges and Page has left the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

The committees have focused much of their ire on Strzok, who was interviewed privately by lawmakers on the two committees for 11 hours June 27.
