Brainard and Zsa Zsa drove for 30 hours from their home in Anoka, Minn., to compete in the World's Ugliest Dog Contest at the Sonoma-Marin Fair in Petaluma, Calif.

Zsa Zsa, known for her pink toenails and lolling side-swept tongue, died in her sleep on Tuesday morning. It's kind of like when she won (the World's Ugliest Dog contest).

"Nine years young with a swaggering tongue, Zsa Zsa delivered a shower of slobber as she claimed this year's title", the competition announced in June. The dog had previously been rescued from a puppy mill in Missouri when she was five years old, according to the newspaper.

"She is just so ugly, she's handsome", Brainard told The New York Times last month. The dog's owner Megan Brainard of Anoka, Minnesota, had received $1,500, a trophy and visit to NY for the win, reported USA Today. Zsa Zsa's owner, Megan Brainard, tells TODAY.

England v Croatia semi final
Soon after the second half, Croatia was trying hard since long to score one soon while England were happy so sit back and defend. Indeed, many spectators thought the same, given that the Croatian side came from two successive matches that went to penalties.

Before being crowned Ugliest Dog, Zsa Zsa lived a modest life and spent her days lounging and eating Slim Jims, according to the New York Times. When her body was returned to his owner's house on the same day, Brainard, her husband Jesse and 15-month-old daughter Mareslie held an intimate farewell ceremony for the English bulldog.

Zsa Zsa was truly a thing of beauty.

Brainard and her family are not alone in mourning Zsa Zsa, as the sad news of her passing swept the internet late Tuesday.
