"What happened was an accident, and I don't want to throw the shark under the bus", Zarutske said.

Katarina Zarutskie, a nursing and business double major who also models on Instagram, is receiving worldwide attention over a stunning photo.

Her boyfriend's father was photographing Katarina at the time, and accidentally caught the whole incident in a series of images.

Since coming out of the water and reflecting on the situation, she added: "They are wild animals and it's an uncontrollable situation".

The 19-year-old, who was on vacation with her boyfriend and his family, set out to join a group of snorkelers - despite the fact that her boyfriend was "freaking out".

She told NBC that she was briefly pulled underwater while a five-foot shark had a chomp, before she "ripped (her) wrist out of the shark's mouth as fast as (she) could".

Croatia become smallest nation to reach World Cup final since 1950
But I'm remarkably proud of a group of players who have really advanced. "But I think we've built a house here now on good... The photographs of the emotional moment are just so damn pure - like something straight out of Friday Night Lights .

Stitches and antibiotics were all that was needed to fix her up-though there are still shark teeth fragments in her arm, and she'll likely have scarring-and Zarutskie doesn't hold a grudge against the shark. These are among the questions we've been asking ourselves-and not surprisingly, she's found them upsetting.

She suddenly topples into the water screaming as on-lookers rush to help her.

Katarina has not let her experience stop her from enjoying and respecting the ocean.

"A lot of locals that were just excited, and encouraging me to swim with them", Zarutskie told US TV show Good Morning America. I don't know where to look. The photo came at a cost, however, as you can see one of the sharks swam over and went all "Jaws" on Zarutskie's left wrist.

"I'm not afraid of the ocean and if anything I respect and love it more", she says.

"Next thing I knew I was underwater, I felt this and adrenaline just kicks in", she said. "With any animal, you can't predict what they're going to do".
