IHOP announced on Monday that it had officially changed its name back to the International House of Pancakes after a brief stint as IHOb, the International House of Burgers.

The announcement was buried in the mention of a promotion in which it will offer 60-cent short stacks on July 17 to celebrate its 60th birthday. A full stack is $5.79.

Now just over one month later on July 9, IHOP admitted what we already know; that the name change was a promotional stunt to put their new line of burgers in the spotlight. "That's right, IHOP! We'd never turn our back on pancakes (except for that time we faked it to promote our new burgers)", the company said in its Facebook post.

Thai cave rescue: Day three of operation begins
Four ambulances and a convoy of other vehicles arrived at the cave site Tuesday morning (local time) as rains hit the region. Monday's rescue effort took about nine hours, two fewer than the day before, in a sign of growing confidence and expertise.

The change drew massive backlash on social media with some calling the move an "epic failure". At the time, a branding expert told FOX Business that the name change was the "dumbest decision ever made in the world of branding".

Wendy's, who called out IHOP when they first announced the meaning of the "b", said they weren't surprised by the lie.
