  • Plenty of Big Moves Left to Be Made in the NBA Offseason

Marcus Smart, a former first-round pick of the Celtics from 2014, hasn't heard from Danny Ainge and company despite his free agent tag.

Smart is frustrated by how the Celtics haven't reached out to him.

From the start, the Celtics have been willing to let Smart test the market, believing he would have a hard time finding the type of money he wants, per sources.

ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski said on The Woj Pod that the market for restricted free agents this summer is "decimated" because teams have less money to spend after many of them splurged when the salary cap spiked in 2016.

The source added that Smart thought he would have at least gotten an offer for a three- or four-year deal from the Celtics at this juncture in free agency, and that he hasn't spoken to Boston since a few days before the period started.

UFC President Dana White, Las Vegas mayor Carolyn Goodman and former champion Dominick Cruz are among the guests backstage. The card is headlined by Stipe Miocic vs Daniel Cormier , as well as co-main event Derrick Lewis vs Francis Ngannous.

"I don't think that bothers Marcus as much as no communication from Danny (Ainge)", said the source.

The likes of Clint Capela, Jabari Parker and Zach LaVine are all still in the same boat as the tenacious Celtics defender. We can now include the 24-year-old Smart in that group.

Based on the source's comments, Smart sounds prepared to eventually accept his qualifying offer, then plan to move on from the Celtics and explore unrestricted free agency next summer.

The Celtics reportedly extended a qualifying offer late last month, valued at just north of $6 million, according to RealGM's Keith Smith. "He's most disappointed that there has been no reaching out from their end". As a restricted free agent, the Celtics can match any offer that comes Smart's way.
