He added that the rains had stopped in the past few days, giving the rescue operation some space to make several areas in the cave dry enough for rescue workers to work in the cave.

Narongsak said experts, who themselves have made the hard journey, were teaching them the rudiments of diving, but that the boys were not yet capable of an arduous and complicated mission.

The governor of Chiang Rai, Narongsak Osottanakorn, told a press conference he wanted a rescue plan that posed the minimum risk.

The adolescent soccer players trapped for two weeks in a partially flooded cave in northern Thailand don't want their parents to worry.

Shlomo said he had come at the request of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu "to see how Israel can help its friend Thailand".

Outside the cave, the mother of one of the boys said she was "glad" for a glimpse of her son.

He pointed out that any drilling process could take months, likening the situation to the 2010 mine rescue in Chile that took 69 days to get the stranded miners to the surface.

Water pumps are shipped in to drain the rising, murky floodwaters.

The president of soccer's governing body, FIFA, has invited the boys to be his guests at the World Cup Final in Moscow on July 15 if they make it out in time. Two of them and their coach are in poor health. "But we can't wait for the rain". The diver, the first fatality of the rescue effort, was working in a volunteer capacity and died on a mission to place oxygen canisters along the route to where the boys and others are sheltered.

But one of those experienced divers, an ex-Thai navy diver, died during the rescue operations after running out of oxygen himself, proving how hard said rescue will be. He was found unconscious around 1 a.m. Friday and transferred to a hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.

They will now face France on Tuesday to determine whether or not they will reach their first final. There is something really special about this squad.

Asked at his midnight news conference about bringing the boys out underwater, the governor replied, "Not today because they can not dive at this time".

The death of the Thai diver, Saman Gunan, on Friday underscored the risks of making the underwater journey.

The fatality raises fears that a rescue mission could be fraught and even deadly for the boys, who have been trapped for almost two weeks. "Think about it, a Navy SEAL just passed away last night, so how about a 12-year-old kid", said Rafael Aroush, an Israeli volunteer helping the rescue bid.

"We will not stop our mission".

The boys and their coach have been trapped since June 23, when they went exploring in the cave after a soccer game.

A Thai Navy SEAL helping with the rescue operation died Friday, underlining the dangers of navigating the flooded cave system even for those with experience.

"At first, we thought the children could stay for a long time. but now things have changed, we have a limited time", said Apakorn Yookongkaew, Thailand's Navy Seal commander. "If the oxygen levels are down and the carbon dioxide levels are up, then you can get too much carbon dioxide in your blood". Rescue crews have also determined that it's impractical to bring into the cave the necessary amounts of food and supplies that are required to sustain the boys and their coach before the oxygen levels drop to fatal levels or the water level rises.

Rescuers are reportedly also concerned about a lack of oxygen in the cave. Maj. The boys are being given high-protein ready-to-eat meals, similar to army rations.

The boys also wrote they are doing well and missing their families.

The rescuers are attempting different methods to save the boys, as it is deemed too risky to evacuate the team by diving into the submerged passageways. Second message reads, "I miss dad and mum, I think of you every day".
