Did you remember that Netflix offers the option to create reviews on TV shows and movies?

Will you mourn the loss of Netflix reviews?

Say goodbye to Netflix user reviews, because the streaming service has announced that it will obliterate all of them from the site next month.

Yes, it's over simplified but it's a metric that makes much more sense when Netflix needs to instantly see if its content is liked or not.

In an email circulated on Thursday, first reported by CNET, Netflix said that it's getting rid of the written-reviews feature because it "has seen declining usage over time". Following that, existing user reviews will remain up on the sit until the middle of August, after which they will be removed completely.

Star Wars: Episode IX Enlists Keri Russell for 'Action-Heavy' Role
Abrams is directing the upcoming Star Wars film and has been spending most of his time working on the script with Lawrence Kasdan. According to Variety , Russell is in talks to play an undisclosed role in Star Wars IX that requires "action-heavy fight scenes".

Netflix has been stripping away the functionality of its user review system since early 2017, when it changed its scale-of-five-stars rating system into a thumbs up/thumbs down one.

In October 2017, Netflix shocked United Kingdom users when it sent an email informing them of a price increase that raised users' monthly cost as much as 10 per cent.

"We have notified members who have used the feature recently", Netflix added in its statement. According to Netflix, the new system is easier to use and that it also produces more accurate personal recommendations for shows and movies.

It is, perhaps, worth pointing out that the current thumbs-up and thumbs-down system will stay in place after the change as it is not dependent on the online reviews.

The price for a plan that includes ultra-high definition, or 4K, video, and allows users to watch simultaneously on four different devices, went up to £9.99 ($14 in the US) from £8.99 ($12 in the US) a month, an increase of 10 per cent.
