Fortnite developer Epic has announced the temporary closure of the game's sandbox mode, Playground, to take place on July 12.

While it's now finally active and working as intended, it is a limited time mode, and as such won't be in rotation forever.

The mode also features respawns, increased resources and a ten minute time limit making it extremely different from any other mode in the game.

On the plus side, Epic Games has said that it has heard fans' pleas for the Playground mode to become a permanent game type. We don't know much about Season 5 yet, but expect the usual assortment of skins, emotes, and other Battle Pass goodies.

We clearly wanted to do more. "But in the end it wasn't enough". "We make sure we work hard for each other on and off the pitch". No. 6-ranked Switzerland had more of the possession but created few clear-cut chances against the well-drilled Sweden defense.

"The Playground LTM represents our first step into what a full creative mode looks like in Fortnite", it said.

The game mode was originally added on June 27 with the v4.5 update, but it was quickly removed after a slew of matchmaking issues were uncovered. Well, aside from the upcoming Fortnite Playground v2 mode, which promises improvements and changes that will make for even more fun.

Fortnite Playground mode at last launched properly earlier this week after teething problems with the LTM. In a post on Reddit, Epic revealed that it has already started work on the next version of Playground, which will allow team selection options within the mode.

From the wording of the message, it sounds like Playground is not in it's final "version", and so it is expected there will be changes made in the future which may lead to it being temporarily disabled.
