A woman was pulled into the waters off Australia after being bitten by a shark. She suffered a few cuts, a fracture, an infection and a torn ligament in her finger but will keep the digit. " She now has a simple message for the rest of humankind".

"Just be mindful of your surroundings and don't feed sharks", Brunning stressed.

Yeah, that checks out.

The 34-year-old Perth woman was standing on the back of a yacht in Dugong Bay in the remote Kimberley Region, around 250km north of Broome, when she tried to handfeed four tawny nurse sharks swimming nearby.

Speaking after the incident, she said: "It happened so quickly". While everyone else was leaving fish in the water for the sharks to suck up into powerful, tooth-lined jaws, Brunning said she made the mistake of trying to feed one of the creatures by hand.

Nurse sharks are slow-moving bottom-dwellers that are generally harmless to humans, according to National Geographic. The sharks will bite defensively if stepped on or if they feel their space is being invaded.

The 30-year-old mother-of-two shared a photo of Devin with the caption: " Hi babe " and the latter replied with a love emoji. Haney has been boxing for a little more than three years now and had debut bout in December of 2015.

As it was only day three of her dream two-week holiday in remote WA, Ms Brunning made a decision to carry on, hoping her finger would heal by itself.

Melissa's finger thankfully didn't come off, but it became badly infected.

The victim was afraid that I would lose him.

Even though she's still recovering, Ms Brunning said her brush with the inside of a shark's mouth didn't stop her from enjoying her holiday. I've always had the opinion that when you're in the water, they're top of the food chain, it's their domain.

"It was an unforgettable trip, I've got a cool story, a cool injury and I'll have a cool little scar, but I'm just grateful that it wasn't worse than what it was", she said.
