For the research, the team used data from the UK Biobank study, through which a large group of UK adults completed health questionnaires, underwent physical examinations and provided biological samples.

"This study provides further evidence that coffee drinking can be part of a healthy diet and offers reassurance to coffee drinkers", write the researchers. So if you drank that coffee, you had a slightly lower chance of dying during the 10 years the study examined.

Drink an unsettling amount of coffee a day?

The second main way in which the study builds upon past research is that it took into account mortality incidence with respect to genetic differences in participants' metabolizing of caffeine. "This new study is consistent with the previous studies but show [s] that the potential benefit extends to higher intakes of coffee,"he said."But [it] doesn't mean that everyone should drink 8 cups of coffee a day".

Amla is loaded with vitamin C that is known to build your body's defence mechanisms against diseases and infections.

No matter the cause of death, drinking coffee was associated with longer life expectancy for all participants, aged between 38-73 years. But non-coffee drinkers were more likely to have died than coffee-drinkers.

Your habit of guzzling coffee throughout the day could be the secret to a longer life.

In the study, published today (July 2) in the journal JAMA Internal Medicine, Loftfield and her team at the NCI analyzed data from almost 500,000 people who took part in the U.K. Biobank study. They found that participants without a college degree more commonly drank instant coffee compared to college graduates. And when all causes of death were combined, even slow caffeine metabolisers had a longevity boost. An editorial by Eliseo Guallar from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health in Baltimore, Maryland, said there is no way to know if coffee prevents chronic disease and reduces mortality because there are too many factors to weigh like why people start drinking coffee. That study is particularly important, as it shows these benefits apply to African Americans, Native Hawaiians, Japanese Americans, Latinos, and white people.

Whatever it is, there have been multiple studies that point to coffee's health benefits.

Nonetheless, the new study's findings are a positive for coffee lovers.

Past studies have indicated an inverse association between drinking coffee and the risk of developing chronic conditions such as heart disease, diabetes, Parkinson's and cancers of the liver, bowel, colon and endometrium.

You may have heard about the plant compounds called phytochemicals in coffee; such basic elements remain whether coffee is caffeinated or not, and whether you use a $5,000 espresso machine or you pour some hot water onto some powder.
