  • Body in a morgue

But when a member of staff at the facility went to check on the body in the fridge, he is understood to have found that she was breathing.

"This lady had severe and multiple injuries", Distress Alert operations manager Gerrit Bradnick told the news site.

Bradnick said there is no proof of negligence by his company.

A Times Live report said, the woman who was involved in a vehicle accident outside of Carletonville a week ago was declared dead, along with two other occupants also killed in the collision.

The ambulance company has maintained the woman "showed no form of life" after paramedics checked for a pulse and signs of breathing.

"When he pulled out the woman's body‚ he saw that she was breathing", a source told the outlet.

A woman has woken up alive in a morgue after being declared dead following a road accident in South Africa on June 24.

It was reported that the woman is now receiving treatment in a hospital east of Johannesburg.

One killed, 3 injured in mob attack at Tripura village
Police said some youths attacked a middle-aged woman at Jogendra Nagar railway station on Wednesday night. No arrests had been made in the cases but authorities said they were questioning several suspects.

"The crew is absolutely devastated - we're not in the business of declaring living people dead, we're in the business of keeping people alive".

An investigation has been launched into the blunder.

"We need answers", a family member told the BBC, speaking on condition of anonymity.

"The issue is that we need answers, that's all we want and we don't have any clarity now".

Responding to the incident, emergency official Bradnick said paramedics had "no idea how it happened".

It seems that this isn't the first time someone had been found in a morgue fridge still alive.

It is also not the first time this has happened in South Africa. They said she was pronounced dead after they found none.
