  • Luang Rescue Operation Center Thai rescue teams walk inside cave complex where 12 boys and their soccer coach went missing in Mae Sai Chiang Rai province in northern Thailand Monday

Thai provincial governor says all 12 boys and their coach found alive in cave where they went missing over a week ago. "But our mission is not completed... so far we've just found them, now we have to bring them out and get them home".

The worldwide rescue operation - which includes more than 1,000 people from Thai emergency services, alongside a United States military contingent and British cave experts - has been ramping up its efforts since the 12 boys and their 25-year-old soccer coach disappeared during an outing in the caves in northern Thailand on June 23.

Officials are working out how to rescue twelve boys and their football coach who have all been found alive after they became lost in a flooded cave in Thailand.

"If the doctors say their physical condition is strong enough to be moved, they will take them out from the cave", he continued.

Expert divers said they had made progress earlier on Monday after reaching a bend where a half-mile passageway splits into two directions. After a muffled conversation, the divers tell them: "Monday, Monday".

Worldwide experts have joined rescue efforts deep inside the cavern as the boys' parents maintain a constant vigil.

And following the boys' discovery, Thailand's prime minister Prayuth Chan-ocha thanked the global experts who had helped in the search. The divers are aiming for a sandy chamber on higher ground in the cave, where they believe the group would be safe.

On Monday, the boys' families received news they had been praying for all along.

Throughout last week, specialists and rescue teams worked to save the group, including experts from China and Australia. He said rescuers must still decide whether to try to get the team out of the cave or to instead provide them with survival supplies until water levels go down.

They were repeatedly blocked by rising water that has filled sections of the cave and forced them to withdraw for safety reasons. Many, many people. We're the first.

Divers from a Thai navy SEAL unit have been at the forefront of the search, supported by worldwide rescue teams from the United States, Britain and Japan and elsewhere. That also begets the question: "If the dives are hard then supply will be hard, but the risk of trying to dive them out is also exponentially greater".

"The narrow passages are going to make it hard to get the equipment and medical gear and manpower to them". He said the diving teams included doctors. About 1,000 volunteers and rescuers, including a US military team, had established a base camp near the mouth of the cave.

Nopparat Knatawong, the club's head coach who didn't attend the trip, told media they would stick together; saying: "I believe they won't abandon each other. They will take care of each other".
