Forty-two people died in a bus accident on Sunday morning in Uttrakhand's Pauri Garhwal district. While 45 of them died on the spot, the critically injured were rushed to the hospital.

All passengers were heading towards Ramnagar from Bhoan in a minibus that fell in the gorge and reason for the accident is yet not clarified.

Chief Minister of Uttarakhand state Trivendra Rawat says the bus skidded and fell into a 700-foot (213-metre) deep gorge.

The 28-seater bus, which was travelling from Bhoan to Ramnagar, was carrying around double the amount of passengers, officials said. My deepest condolences to the bereaved families.
