Julius Randle reportedly isn't coming back to the Los Angeles Lakers, and suddenly the team on top of the world after signing LeBron James may have some more work to do to fill the roster around him.

The Cavs played 81 postseason games - one contest shy of an entire regular season - the last four years, winning 55 of them.

This is a developing story.

According to the report, it is unclear that the two sides have set up a meeting.

During the four seasons following his return, the Cavaliers reached the NBA Finals each season and James managed to continue an incredible string of eight consecutive appearances in the finals. Because they own his "Bird rights" the Cavs can offer James more money than any other team - a five-year, $207 million deal.

Los Angeles also provides James with a larger platform for his business interests and social activism. His deal with the Lakers is his longest since he signed for six years with Miami in 2010. While there had been dialogue between Paul and Altman since the season ended, James had not given the team any sense of his plans.

It begins: Free agency in National Basketball Association starts with a flourish
It would certainly help if they're successful in luring LeBron James and/or concluding a trade for Kawhi Leonard . The Lakers have positioned themselves with a massive amount of cap space to make noise this summer.

National Basketball Association superstar LeBron James has signed with the Los Angeles Lakers, leaving his hometown team the Cleveland Cavaliers for a four-year $154 million deal, according to Klutch Sports Group, the company run by his longtime friend and agent Rich Paul.

Wine-and-gold vs. Purple-and-gold.

But while the Cavs and Lakers appear to be the front-runners for James, the Sixers aren't ready to give up the fight. Well, at least young and outspoken centre Embiid isn't.

Prior to signing with the Lakers, James' representatives spent time meeting with the Sixers in Los Angeles, but in the end opted to make the move to the Western Conference and agree to terms with Magic Johnson and the Lakers.

"Welcome to the family ↕KingJames", Bryant said on Twitter.

For now, though, he's not attached to anyone.
