LeBron James has informed the Cleveland Cavaliers of his decision to opt out of the final year of his contact, making him an unrestricted free agent starting July 1.

The Cavs, who are well over the NBA's projected $101 million salary cap for next season, are not expected to make an early deal outside of whatever happens with James' decision.

And ESPN is reporting the Cleveland Cavaliers won't meet in person with LeBron James or his representatives once it does. However, James could still re-sign with Cleveland, although the strong current from national media is that he appears ready to move.

National Basketball Association free agency begins at 12:00 AM EST and will be another exciting free agency.

The 76ers have also been engaged in talks with the San Antonio Spurs on a potential Kawhi Leonard trade, and so far, they have kept three players off-limits in talks, team sources told ESPN: Embiid, Simmons and Markelle Fultz.

Free agency begins at 12:01 a.m. ET Sunday, and the balance of power in the National Basketball Association could shift if James chooses to leave Cleveland and create a new superteam with the Los Angeles Lakers or join a burgeoning power such as the Houston Rockets or Philadelphia 76ers.

According to ESPN front-office insider Bobby Marks, Cleveland can offer James a more lucrative deal than any other team - a five-year max contract in the neighborhood of $205 million.

The victory, his second on the PGA Tour schedule, gives him a two-year exemption and moved him to No. 42 in the FedEx Cup. Molinari first put the putter in play at the Players Championship and later in May won the BMW PGA Championship with it.

Realistically, James will now have to choose between rejoining the Cavaliers or joining either the Los Angeles Lakers or Philadelphia 76ers when the moratorium on free agent signings is lifted.

Let's take a look at what the Lakers roster and starting lineup would look like if James signed with the Lakers.

For the rest of this year's free agents, James, Caldwell-Pope and Stephenson signing with the Lakers eliminates one of the few teams with significant cap space on the market.

Only about four hours until James can be free to make a decision.

When did free agency start?

.

For the second time in his career, James is saying goodbye to the Cleveland Cavaliers, who drafted the teenage sensation from Akron in 2003 and have to be satisfied with winning just one title in the 11 years they had him. The fan had supposedly followed the formers Cavs star from the airport to get the footage, which literally just shows two black SUV's and no sight of James at all. While there had been dialogue between Paul and Altman since the season ended, James had not given the team any sense of his plans. The 33-year-old had previously said he wanted to finish his career in OH, and although he's leaving again, Cavs fans are more forgiving after he ended the city's 52-year sport title drought in 2016.

He played all 82 regular-season games for the first time, averaging 27.5 points, 8.6 rebounds and a career-high 9.1 assists per game.
