  • NAM model predicts a heat index of 100 Sunday at 2 p.m

TONIGHT - Clear Skies and Warm.

It's extremely hot out there.

Are you ready for the heat wave?

It didn't take long for the temperature to reach 90 degrees at Boston's Logan Airport this morning.

The heat index is unlikely to drop below 90 degrees in Chicago Saturday evening, according to the National Weather Service's website. Dew point temperatures - the measure of the moisture in the air - will remain in the low to mid 70°s throughout the day.

Sunday's record high is 102, set in 1931. The threat increases throughout the day Saturday, when the Twin Cities are expected to see a high temperature in the upper 80s. The thunderstorms will become more scattered during the late evening hours.

More than a dozen Ice agents call for agency to be abolished
Nine people were arrested Thursday morning after federal officers in riot gear moved in to clear the entrance to the U.S. Kirsten Gillibrand and New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio - echoed the "abolish ICE" calls this week.

Heat Indices on Sunday will exceed 105 degrees at times. Records on Sunday are 97° in Allentown and 101° in Reading, and again records will be threatened, more so in the Lehigh Valley than in Berks County. The hot dome will be overhead for a couple days. Most places haven't hit 100 degrees officially since the summers of 2011 and 2012, so triple-digit heat is not something that happens every year in our area.

Another round of hot air will move into the central USA on the Fourth of July.

Residents are warned to "drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, and stay out of the sun", the agency says.

Anyone spending significant time outdoors tomorrow is susceptible to heat stroke or heat exhaustion, the weather service said. The heat index should approach 100 on Friday afternoon and could get as high at 110 on Saturday afternoon. Upper 70s to around 80 for lows are possible in the New York City metro area.

"This weekend is going to be quite hot. The high temperature on Tuesday is in the low 90s".

A heat wave rolling into the area is expected to last through Sunday, with the National Weather Service (NWS) calling for a heat advisory for Millburn Township through 12:00 pm Sunday. July is expected to average out higher.
