Paul George is about to re-sign with the Oklahoma City Thunder.

If George, 28, sticks with that statement, it would be a huge blow to the Los Angeles Lakers, who have spent a year trying to lure the California native back to the state.

George was traded to OKC nearly exactly a year ago after informing the Indiana Pacers that he would not re-sign with them, instead preferring to join his hometown Lakers in free agency. The deal is a $137 million max contract over four years, along with a player option on that fourth year, according to ESPN's sources.

George's decision is not wholly surprising, given that he has been one of the top free-agent targets for many teams all season long. Had George picked up the one year remaining on his contract in Oklahoma City, he could have then helped orchestrate a trade to the Cavs, just as Chris Paul did when he joined the Houston Rockets last offseason.

Migrant crisis: European Union leaders plan secure migrant centres
In a separate incident Friday, Libya's coast guard picked up 345 migrants and sent them to Tripoli. The Italian concern has been to stop migrants from coming to Europe in the first place.

The five-time All-Star has informed the Oklahoma City Thunder forward of his plans to decline the $20.7 million option on the final year of his current contract, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski. It is clear that the party was another attempt to convince George to stay in OKC.

The all-star swingman announced his attention on Saturday night on stage at party hosted by teammate Russell Westbrook. The Thunder traded for him anyway, hoping they could convince him to stay after a season there. "They checked the boxes on what needs to be checked". Now the only fools are the ones in L.A. who will have to trade more assets than they otherwise might have before if they want to land George. "They already re-signed Grant".

The Thunder will soon find out if that's enough to keep him.

Last season, Anthony averaged a career-low 16.2 points to go with 5.8 rebounds and 1.3 assists, while shooting 40.4 percent from the field and 35.7 percent from three-point range.
