Trump wants 'these people' who 'invade our Country' sent right back

"When somebody comes in, we must immediately, with no Judges or Court Cases, bring them back from where they came. Our system is a mockery to good immigration policy and Law and Order", the president tweeted.

Since May 2017, the Trump administration has reportedly been considering expanding the policy to allow for the immediate deportation of undocumented immigrants anywhere in the country who can not prove they have lived in the USA continuously for more than 90 days.

Trump tweets Sunday that the USA immigration system is "laughed at all over the world" and is "very unfair" to individuals using legal avenues to gain entry. Trump also raised a fresh call to base the decision to grant immigration on merit.

Last week, Mr. Trump reversed a policy of separating families entering the US illegally at the border with Mexico with an executive order. Last week, he rejected calls from Congress to hire more immigration judges.

The George W. Bush administration first enacted an expedited removal policy in 2004, which allows for undocumented immigrants to be deported without a trial if they've been in the country illegally for under two weeks and were apprehended within 100 miles of the border.

"Democrats, fix the laws".

United States law does permit expedited deportations if an immigrant is apprehended within 160km of the border and has been in the country for less than 14 days.

"We have people coming into the country, or trying to come in - we're stopping a lot of them", Mr. Trump said in the Cabinet Room during an hourlong meeting that reporters were allowed to document.

The president has long railed for stronger immigration laws since the start of his campaign, including his promise to build a wall on the U.S. -Mexico border and have Mexico pay for it.

"We have been encouraging illegal immigration", Johnson said on CNN's "State of the Union".

"What President Trump has suggested here is both illegal and unconstitutional", said Omar Jadwat, director of the ACLU's Immigrants' Rights Project.

"Because of our insatiable demand for drugs, yes public institutions in Central America have been destroyed, but they were destroyed prior to 2012 and DACA", Johnson said.

Republican Senator Ron Johnson, chairman of the Senate Homeland Security Committee, told CNN, "This is a mess that goes back decades".

Late Saturday night, a DHS statement said 522 children out of more than 2,500 had already been reunited since the policy began. On Sunday, he said U.S. immigration policy was "laughed at all over the world". Lawmakers may then proceed with a narrower proposal aimed specifically at addressing the mounting uproar over the practice of separating the children of illegal immigrants from their parents. "I didn't like the sight or the feeling of families being separated".
