  • Seth MacFarlane Donates to NPR, KPCC After Slamming Fox News

On Saturday, MacFarlane, the creator of Fox's "Family Guy", "American Dad", and "The Orville", took aim at Fox and said that he is "embarrassed" to work for the company after network host Tucker Carlson told viewers to discount news - specifically regarding the crisis at the U.S. -Mexico border - from other outlets besides Fox.

Levitan's criticism of Fox News was echoed by three other influential television and movie producers and creators as an outcry grew in the United States and overseas over a policy to separate immigrant children from their parents who cross the US border illegally.

Speaking to Laura Ingraham on Fox News on Monday night, the attorney general, Jeff Sessions, drew criticism for his response to people comparing immigrant detention centers to Nazi Germany.

Representatives for Fox News and 21st Century Fox declined comment.

Levitan tweeted that the cable station's "23-hour-a-day support" of the gun lobby, conservative conspiracy theories and President Donald Trump's falsehoods were "harder to swallow every day as I drive onto that lot to make a show about inclusion".

Deadline reports that MacFarlane followed his tweet up with a hefty donation to National Public Radio, pledging $2 million to NPR and $500,000 to its Los Angeles membership station, KPCC.

In a statement, Fox News said that Ingraham's "very personal, on-the-ground commitment" to children in need speaks for itself, as does her belief "in a commonsense, legal immigration system, which will continue to be a focus of her show".

But after watching Harry Kane lead England to victory in injury time, he had a warning for Martinez: "Watch out". Colombia start the day's action against Japan at midnight (NZT), followed by Poland's clash with Senegal at 3am.

The move is a concerning one as other major media players have signaled dissatisfaction with working for companies who have parent organizations affiliated with Fox News. "How can you remain silent when they promote these policies?"

"Modern Family" Executive Producer Steve Levitan on Tuesday announced via Twitter he was cutting ties with Fox over news coverage.

Some powerful Hollywood producers and directors have criticized Twenty-First Century Fox Inc over its news commentators' support for the US immigration crackdown that separates children from their parents, with one award-winning producer threatening to take his work elsewhere.

MacFarlane's overall deal with 20th Century Fox TV ends in 2019.

They were joined by others in the entertainment and advertising industries who are questioning their business relationships over the coverage by Fox News.

Wendy Molyneux, a writer for the animated Fox comedy Bob's Burgers voiced the same sentiment.

Fox News and its entertainment divisions may be operated by separate companies in the future.
