The move comes as the Trump administration is under intense criticism from business groups, human rights organizations and lawmakers from both parties over its recently imposed decision to separate children from parents who enter the United States illegally. He called the policy of separating children from parents crossing the southern border illegally "unconscionable".

The United Nations Human Rights Council is comprised of a 47-member council.

Haley a year ago slammed the body for its "relentless, pathological campaign" against Israel.

Since taking office, the administration has announced its withdrawal from the Paris climate accord, the United Nations educational and cultural organization and the Iran nuclear deal. The announcement would come a day after the U.N.'s human rights chief, in a speech to the council, criticized President Donald Trump's immigration policy decisions that have led his administration to separate families apprehended after entering the US illegally.

The UN Human Rights Council (UNHRC) had mandated the creation of such a list in 2016 and has warned that business activity with Israeli entities over the pre-1967 lines can be considered criminal activity under worldwide law.

Audi Boss Rupert Stadler Arrested During Diesel Probe
Auto industry expert Ferdinand Dudenhoeffer of the vehicle research centre called the allegations against Stadler "very serious". Investors have accused the company of informing investors too late about the probe , a view the auto maker has contested.

British Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson on Monday urged the council to reform its treatment of Israel and assailed its controversial Agenda Item 7, which is dedicated to discussing rights abuses in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, according to the Times of Israel.

It's not clear whether the US will quit the council in a way that means it will not cooperate with it in any form or whether it will continue to at least observe its sessions and engage in some of its investigations, the rights advocates said. But U.N. officials said no member has withdrawn.

The move also comes in the days following the United States' president embracing the world's worst murderous dictator.

The United States has long accused the council of being biased against Israel.

Instead, the U.S. State Dept.is making the historic move to protest what it calls is the Council's anti-Israel bias. "USA leadership matters. We're still the only ones with credibility on human rights on the world stage".
