How does Trump's Space Force compare to Russian Federation and China's space capabilities?

  • President Donald Trump appears leaving the G7 Summit in Canada on Saturday

In remarks kicking off a meeting of the National Space Council, Trump pointedly directed the Pentagon to create a Space Force as a "separate but equal" branch of the us military. What the space force actually means is anyone's guess, but Trump described the space branch of the military as "separate but equal" to the Air Force. Last year, he wrote to the Senate Committee on Armed Services regarding the National Defense Authorization Act for fiscal year 2018, and among his areas of concern included what Congress was calling "Space Corps".

"At a time when we are trying to integrate the Department's joint warfighting functions, I do not wish to add a separate service that would likely present a narrower and even parochial approach to space operations."

The commander-in-chief made the declaration at a meeting with members of the National Space Council, during which he personally asked Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Gen. Joseph Dunford "to carry that assignment out".

The Air Force now oversees numerous military's space activities, such as the experimental X-37B spacecraft.

The White House has noted that the commercialization of space is demanding new measures while "space becomes increasingly contested", in order to ensure that the U.S. Department of Defense be able to secure Washington's interests. The president said that these space plans are "great not only good in terms of jobs and everything else, but "great for the psyche of our country". And the Space and Missile Systems Center at Los Angeles Air Force Base in California, designs and buys most of the Pentagon's space systems, while also overseeing satellite and other aircraft launches.

Local Congressman Doug Lamborn praised Trump's directive and said Colorado Springs has many resources to support the branch.

Incredibles 2 opens with $180 million, breaks records
Previously, the seat was taken by " Finding Dory ", after it earned $135 million in its opening weekend in 2016. The movie earned $51.5 million in other territories, for a total worldwide gross of $231.5 million.

For its third meeting, the National Space Council chose the White House as its venue.

According to Space, Trump also suggested that perhaps the private sector would manage the first trip to Mars before NASA. "Too many missions at stake", U.S. Senator Bill Nelson, a Democrat, said on Twitter.

"At worst, it is the first step in an accelerated competition between the US, China and Russian Federation in the space realm that is going to be more hard to avert without direct talks about responsible rules of the road", he added.

He was joined by Vice-President Mike Pence, Nasa Administrator Jim Bridenstine, former astronaut Buzz Aldrin and members of his space council. He has ordered the government to review regulations on commercial space flights.

"We understand the President's guidance".
