  • Taxi ploughs into crowd of'World Cup fans in Moscow leaving eight injured

Footage shows people chasing and then kicking him after Saturday's crash in which at least seven people - including Mexican World Cup fans - were injured.

Interfax reported that the taxi driver was operating on a drivers' license from Kyrgyzstan.

One witness said some of those hit were wearing Mexican team colours.

Seven or eight people were injured during the crash, according to local media reports.

More than 600,000 foreign tourists are expected to descend on Russian Federation during the June 14 to July 15 showpiece. A total of 64 matches will be played in 12 venues in 11 Russian cities.

"The preliminary cause of the accident is that the driver lost control of the vehicle".

Upskirting law to be passed soon, says Theresa May
"By making upskirting a specic offence, we are sending a clear message that it will not be tolerated". The PM said she was "disappointed" the bill had failed to progress.

Several passersby ran to the vehicle following the incident to attempt to detain the driver, who fled the scene across a street before he was tackled again by members of the public.

The man said he hadn't slept in 20 hours, and ran away after the accident because he was afraid that angry bystanders would kill him.

He is quoted as telling the police that he had been working for more than two days straight driving World Cup tourists and had accidentally stepped on the gas.

The incident occurred near the Red Square in the heart of Moscow. It cited the driver as saying he had not driven into the crowd on objective.

The last video he posted on his page depicted chapter 82 of the Koran, Islam's holy book, which discussed judgment day. The streets were packed with people listening to street musicians perform, or sitting at pavement cafes.

A spokeswoman for Federation Internationale de Football Association told The Associated Press that World Cup organizers regretted what happened, but referred security questions to Moscow authorities because the crash took place outside stadiums or fan venues.
