Trump ‘planning’ to call North Korea’s Kim on Sunday

  • President Donald Trump complimented Kim Jong Un’s authoritarian rule in North Korea observing with apparent envy that when the dictator speaks “his people sit up at attention.”

President Donald Trump held an impromptu interview and gaggle on the White House north lawn Friday.

Asked about who he would speak to on Sunday, Trump said: "Well, I'm going to speak to people in North Korea, and I'm going to speak to my people who are over in North Korea".

Trump was optimistic following his meeting but the Israeli intelligence report says, "the US retreated from its positions on several issues relating to North Korea's nuclear program".

Trump, who has hailed his meeting with Kim on Tuesday as a success that removed the North Korean nuclear threat, told reporters later that he had given Kim a phone number to allow him to reach him directly.

"He's the head of a country, and I mean he's the strong head-don't let anyone think anything different", Trump said while floating the possibility that Kim could be invited to the White House soon.

The U.S. goal of complete, verifiable and irreversible denuclearization, even in the most optimistic case, probably will take years - and that's assuming North Korea won't violate the accord, as it has every previous nuclear agreement.

'I don't want to see a nuclear weapon destroy you and your family.

Experts were concerned the moment could be used in North Korea's propaganda, but Mr Trump said he was showing respect to the general.

"During our conversation, I emphasized the tremendous new prosperity, security, and opportunity that awaits North Korea when they denuclearise".

A majority of Americans believe President Donald Trump's historic meeting with Kim Jong Un was a success, according to recent polls.

Those harsh exchanges are now apparently over - since the summit, Trump has lavished praise on Kim, once a global pariah credibly accused of torturing and starving tens of thousands of his own citizens. "We had good chemistry".

While Trump engaged in weeks of self-promoting followed by a round of self-congratulatory interviews and press conferences, the report suggests the deal amounted to little more than a showboat effort.

'He gave us the remains of our great heroes, ' Trump said, nothing North Korea has pledged to return remains of USA soldiers from the Korean war. "I think it is something that could happen".

"I did a great job this weekend", Trump said.

With tongue in cheek, he added, "I want my people to do the same".

"I agreed to meet?"

Speaking with AM Joy host Joy Reid, who called Tony Schwartz's description of Trump "scary", the ghostwriter said Trump has mental issues.
