  • Tennessee children caught on camera traveling in pet kennels, woman arrested

A woman in Memphis is facing child endangerment charges after this video showed her transporting her grandchildren in pet kennels.

Malone says she and Leimome Cheeks have never spoken but Cheeks has briefly talked with Malone's husband and ten-year-old daughter.

WATN reports the children, ages 7 and 8, told police their grandmother told them there wasn't room for them in the auto.

"Leimome Cheeks was interviewed and admitted to riding from Whitehaven to Collerville with the children in the kennel", a police affidavit obtained by Commercial Appeal states.

On the day the video was recorded, temperatures in Memphis reached 95 degrees.

Cheeks was arrested in Memphis on Sunday morning and is due to appear in court on Monday morning.

Fed raises key rate and sees possible acceleration in hikes
The Fed's new forecast showed inflation inching up only slightly over the next 2 1/2 years . Rates for conventional mortgages are likely to see more gradual change.

The children, ages 8 and 9, told police the kennels were very hot Saturday.

When confronted, Mrs. Cheeks told the arresting officers that there was no more room in her vehicle. "I couldn't see her actually doing that".

A bystander videotaped a freaky scene of a woman letting kids out of pet kennels in her vehicle, which led to the woman's arrest. She's such a nice lady. She is charged with child endangerment that carries a maximum sentence of 12 years in prison if convicted.

Camilla Cowan, Cheeks' next-door neighbor declared that the Tennessee grandmother saw nothing wrong with locking the children inside the hot trunk.

Police have launched an official investigation into the incident.

In the video, a child is seen climbing out of the trunk of the vehicle from the kennel, according to Cleveland 19 News.
