  • Animal stuck on high-rise ledge becomes social media star

The raccoon was caught and was to be picked up by the city's Department of Safety & Inspections, according to a tweet from the building's owner, UBS Financial Services.

As the raccoon climbed higher and higher on Tuesday, animal welfare officials hoped that it would reach the roof of the UBS Plaza building so it could be trapped.

On Tuesday, June 12, all eyes turned toward a determined and confused raccoon just outside of Minnesota Public Radio's headquarters.

The animal was later released on private property near the Twin Cities suburb of Shakopee.

Were you even aware that there was a raccoon who spent the better part of Tuesday, and some of Wednesday, climbing to the top of a skyscraper in downtown Saint Paul, Minnesota?

The raccoon was originally stranded on a different nearby building Monday before escaping to a nearby roof and starting its unlikely ascent, Minnesota Public Radio (MPR) reports.

A raccoon who had the USA state of Minnesota on tenterhooks after it scaled an office building has been released back into the wild.

Three bishops fired as Pope tackles sex abuse - and more are expected
The entire Chilean delegation of bishops that was called to a meeting with the pope in the Vatican last month resigned. The leader of the Roman Catholic Church accepted Barros's resignation as well as those of two others in Chile.

The animal, she added, was in good condition and was eating and had now been set free.

On Twitter, office workers posted photos and videos of the raccoon resting on sills and climbing up the building's concrete pillars.

At one point in the evening, she came back down, only to head back up to the 23 floor while people furiously tweeted their concerns.

On Tuesday, building maintenance workers were able to get the poor little guy to move, but he unfortunately took a more unsafe route, climbing UBS Tower next door.

He said the raccoon is doing "really well". The team cited the raccoon's love for "three-lettered buildings" as their reason to give her a key and an open invitation to roam around the stadium whenever she wants.

The company's general manager Christina Valdivia said the raccoon, a female believed to be about one-year-old, was healthy.
