  • Trump says he will stop 'war games' with South Korea

The top US diplomat, after briefing South Korean officials in Seoul on the Trump-Kim summit in Singapore, said the U.S.

Introduced for the Fiscal 2019 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), the provision would stop a withdraw "unless the U.S. Secretary of Defense certifies it is in our national security interest and would not significantly undermine the security of our allies in the region".

North Korea typically heavily censors its local and foreign content, with events often not being reported until several days after, if at all.

Trump and Kim Jong Un have now parted ways, since Singapore is 12 hours ahead of Eastern Daylight Time, and are heading home, but here's a round up of the biggest moments from their time together.

Trump and Kim agreed that their countries will quickly engage in follow-up talks led by US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and a "relevant high-level" North Korean official.

Trump returned to Washington, declaring on Twitter "There is no longer a Nuclear Threat from North Korea", even though the agreement he signed with Kim does not spell out how Pyongyang will dismantle its nuclear weapons program.

Earlier, South Korea's Presidential Blue House said it needed "to find out the precise meaning or intentions" of Mr Trump's statement. Delegates were outlining specific goals for what the leaders should try to accomplish and multiple scenarios for resolving key issues, a senior U.S official said, adding that the meetings were also an ice breaker of sorts, allowing the teams to get better acquainted after decades of minimal contact between their nations.

Before leaving himself, Mr Trump tossed out pronouncements on United States alliances, human rights and the nature of the accord that he and Mr Kim had signed.

"It is something that [North Korea] very much appreciated", he said, adding that the exercises cost too much and are seen as provocative by North Korea.

Uber driver kicked out same-sex couple for kissing, women say
Iovine and Emma Pichl were taking the Uber from Pig Beach Gowanus to the East Village on Saturday when Iovine gave Pichl a kiss. Iovine presses him to explain, asking: 'Why are we not allowed to kiss in an Uber?' The driver says: "It's illegal".

US Forces Korea said it had received no new instructions about its scheduled training exercises, including this summer's Ulchi Freedom Guardian.

The papers seem to reflect North Korea's desire to portray itself as a legitimate player on the global stage. Pompeo, the former Central Intelligence Agency director, then plans to fly to Beijing to update the Chinese government on the talks.

How did South Korea react?

South Korean Minister of Defence, Itsunori Onodera, said: "We would like to seek an understanding of this between Japan, the US and South Korea".

Before joining the Trump administration, the ultra-hardline Bolton advocated taking military action against North Korea.

While the joint statement did not include much on North Korea's denuclearization as many had expected it would, Kim and Trump are confident and optimistic that this new promise, built on top of their trust for each other, will open a new era of peace and prosperity on the Korean peninsula. "The world will see a major change". The next scheduled major exercise, involving tens of thousands of troops, normally is held in August.

"I find that question insulting and ridiculous and frankly ludicrous", Pompeo said. "Moon, and then Trump, were quick to bite on North Korea's invitation for talks".

Trump left that summit early and, as he flew to Singapore, tweeted that he was yanking the US out of the group's traditional closing statement.

Trump has defended the agreement as a major step in dealing with the threat of nuclear-armed North Korea and said he believed Kim's government would start the process of living up to the agreement right away. He said North Korea is likely to consider Trump's decision a temporary measure while it remains in negotiations with Washington.
