  • The FBI agent who unintentionally shot someone while dancing in a Denver bar turned himself in to police on Tuesday and is awaiting charges

An FBI agent whose gun appeared to accidentally fire in a video showing him dancing at a Denver nightclub and doing a back flip before dropping the weapon has been booked into jail.

Federal Bureau of Investigation agent Chase Bishop accidentally shot a man on June 3 at a downtown Denver nightclub. During the flip, his gun falls out of his trousers and when Bishop picks it up, the gun fires.

The man who was shot, Tom Reddington, told "Good Morning America" last week that he and his friends were sitting at one of the tables when he heard "a loud bang" that he thought was a firecracker. The firearm went off when the agent picked it up. The Denver District Attorney's Office said Bishop could face additional charges pending the results of a blood alcohol content analysis.

The disgraced G-man - whose dangerously clumsy move was captured in a viral video - turned himself in after an arrest warrant was issued Tuesday morning, a spokeswoman for the Denver District Attorney's Office told the paper.

The gun is seen to slip out of his waistband and land on the dance floor.

Bishop is due in court for an advisement hearing on Wednesday.

Attorney David Goddard asked that Bishop be allowed to travel because he lives and works in Washington, D.C. Prosecutors did not object.

According to Fox News, the suspect has since been identified as Chase Bishop. This agent also said that if there are aggravating circumstances to the accidental discharge, the discipline could be more severe, up to termination.

"It's freaky. It's beyond freaky", Reddington said, describing the incident. Bishop has been charged with assault and additional charges might be filed. The agent was taken to police headquarters and later released to a supervisor with the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
