Celtics' Irving mum on potential LeBron reunion

13 June, 2018, 21:28 | Author: Candice Daniels

"No", he said. "Contractually or financially, it just wouldn't make any sense".

Irving spoke with the media on Tuesday and answered several questions, including some about his contract status.

When discussing his long-term future, the free-agent-to-be after next season said his top priorities will be "consistency, authenticity and honesty", but added no contract talks will take place this summer because of the negative financial impact to him of signing an extension with a year left on his deal.

Boston will be healthy next season and depending on what happens with LeBron and his free agency, the Celtics should be considered the early favorite in the East.

Irving pointed to unfinished business in Boston, after knee surgery kept him sidelined during the Celtics' run to the Eastern Conference Finals. Cleveland traded Irving to Boston for Isiah Thomas, Jae Crowder, Ante Žižić, Brooklyn's 2018 first round pick (Number 8 overall), and a 2020 second round pick. "You saw guys who will literally be stars in this league for years to come".

Kyrie Irving didn't have much to say when asked about the possibility of former teammate LeBron James joining him on the Boston Celtics this offseason.

Dustin Johnson wins St. Jude Classic with an incredible walk-off eagle
Johnson admitted he couldn t be happier with his form as he aims to claim a second US Open after his victory at Oakmont in 2016. Johnson will hardly be intimidated by the little-known Putnam, the only legitimate threat if he plays half decently.

Unfortunately for Boston, the injury bug would strike again as Irving would be lost for the rest of the season on March 11.

Kyrie Irving is pondering that, a movie release, his future and LeBron's next decision.

"I'm just excited to see what that looks like, really getting that experience with [Gordon Hayward] and seeing what other pieces we have going forward", the 26-year-old guard told Robb. "But obviously I can't really control that". Ownership and management, they're going to feel what's best for our future, and I'm fully supportive of it.

Love pointed to the fact that with Irving, they climbed back from a 3-1 deficit against a 73-win Golden State Warriors team in 2016. "And the challenge is, now we have championship pedigree". He also won't commit to re-signing with Boston.

"In this business, I've kind of experienced it all and I've seen a lot, so we'll see what management decides", Irving said, as quoted on NBA.com. With that being said, Irving is taking a slow-and-steady approach to his rehab so that he can return by the start of training camp in late September without facing any setbacks along the way.

Irving was searching for a home and it seemed like he found it in Boston.
