Robert De Niro, on hand to introduce Bruce Springsteen's snoozy performance, gave CBS something to bleep out of the broadcast, said to thunderous ovation, "F*ck Trump".

- Ferrari Sheppard (@stopbeingfamous) June 11, 2018Hey America, Want to know why Robert De Niro said "f-k Trump" last night at the Tonys?

Robert De Niro launched an expletive-laden attack on President Donald Trump during a live broadcast.

United States network CBS had a 10-second delay on the broadcast, which ensured that De Niro's outburst was not seen by the millions watching on terrestrial television.

The denunciation is less of a surprise when you consider that a month before Trump was elected, De Niro made a video in which he called him a "pig" and a "bullshit artist".

We'll update with more 2018 Tony numbers as well as the results for the latest season premieres of ABC's summer line-up of game shows and more later on today.

"When you see celebrities say I hope the economy bottoms out to get rid of Trump, I think that helps Trump", Ruhle said. "It's no longer, 'Down with Trump.' It's f-- Trump".

New Platinum game Babylon’s Fall revealed in Square Enix E3 Showcase 2018
From the debut trailer, it seems like cutscenes will be in live-action, but the gameplay will look like a standard game. That one comes with a couple of action figures based on the Toy Story world in-game and all the previous goodies.

Big winners included Once on This Island, which took home the Tony for Best Revival, and Andrew Garfield, who won Best Lead Actor for playing AIDS patient Prior Walter in the Broadway revival of Angels in America.

It was a fitting highlight to a night that saw The Band's Visit, a lyrical meditation on loneliness and connection, win a near-record breaking 10 awards, including Best Musical.

De Niro's comments brought the cheering crowd at Radio City Music Hall to its feet but were bleeped for US television audiences. How dare you say that stupid stuff?

The Oscar-winning De Niro, 74, was at the annual event to announce an award for rock legend Bruce Springsteen.

"Mr. De Niro's comments were unscripted and unexpected".

Not everyone was a fan of De Niro's choice words.

"And again, just like in 1971, the press is distinguishing itself with fearless, exacting journalism", De Niro said.
