"Kia is now evaluating a remedy for this recall".

The recall covers about 507,587 vehicles, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's (NHTSA) website.

The agency is investigating both Kia and its affiliate Hyundai Motor Corp after the airbag flaw may have led to the death to 10 crashes involving two of the automakers' vehicles. Four people died and six were injured.

The two Korean automakers have now recalled almost 1.1 million USA vehicles to tackle the issue.

The 2013 Forte crash took place in Canada.

De Niro appeared on stage at New York's Radio City Music Hall to introduce rocker and Tony Awards performer Bruce Springsteen . Onstage guests were volunteers and staffers from three organizations that bring relief to areas impacted by natural disasters.

Vehicles covered by the Kia recall include 2010 through 2013 Forte compact cars and 2011 through 2013 Optima midsize cars.

The government investigators looked into a problem which seemed to have kept the airbags and seatbelt pretensioners from working in certain vehicles made by Kia and its sister brand/parent company Hyundai. Messages were Friday left seeking comment from NHTSA.

The safety agency also said that electrical overstress appeared to be the root cause in a 2016 recall by Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV of 1.4 million US vehicles for air bag non-deployments in significant frontal crashes. All six crashes were reported to NHTSA between 2012 and 2017, but it was unclear when they occurred.

ZF also supplies air bag computers to other manufacturers which it did not identify, but said each one is "designed to a customer's particular vehicle".

ZF said on Friday that each air bag control unit "is created to a customer's particular vehicle and platform-specific specifications". Kia says there are no injuries or fatalities associated with this issue.
