  • Gmail for Android Gets Customisable Swipe Actions With Latest Update

It appears Google isn't done making Gmail a lot more useful.

The feature works as of version 8.5.20 of the Gmail Android app, but note that Snooze requires the new version of Gmail. Sadly, though, that and deleting were the only options.

"Pick the ones you want and when you browse any inbox or folder inside Gmail, a simple swipe in each direction will perform your chosen action", the report added. But as Gmail is the most public email platform hence this upgrade is a big thing for the tech industry.

The mobile app has supported swipe gestures for some time now, but the options have been rather limited - toggling between read/unread or archiving/deleting messages.

Malta refuses to accept vessel carrying 629 migrants after Italy’s rejection
The Maltese government refused the request, stating worldwide law required the passengers be unloaded in Italy. Salvini, leader of the far-right League, said Malta should let the Aquarius dock but he was rejected.

Under this menu, you can now assign the left and right swipe to either Archive, Delete, Mark as read or unread, Move, or Snooze an email. The options are quite unusual and exciting.

However we suppose this could still come in handy for users who might be left/right handed and might prefer to use the left/right swipes for different actions than what's being offered in the default settings.

As of now, this option is not available for iOS users of Gmail, but it is expected that very soon the company will launch an upgrade update for iOS users too.
