Gennady golovkin stripped of ibf title for failing to agree madatory defence

09 June, 2018, 21:44 | Author: Candice Daniels

This decision was taken by the worldwide Boxing Federation after the failure of the Kazakh to hold the third of August 2018 fight with mandatory Challenger Sergey Derevyanchenko, according to XSPORT. In explosive comments to reporters at his secluded mountain training camp in Big Bear, east of Los Angeles, Golovkin said Alvarez had benefited from preferential treatment throughout his career by authorities in Nevada, where the two men will fight in a much anticipated rematch on May 5.

Golovkin has held the IBF middleweight title since 2015 when he knocked out David Lemieux on pay-per-view.

Yahoo Sports notes the IBF said in a statement that Golovkin fighting "an unsanctioned contest" against Vanes Martirosyan was the primary driving force in the decision to vacate the title.

Following Gennady Golovkin being stripped of the IBF middleweight title, two of the top contenders being considered for the now vacant title are Sergiy Derevyanchenko (mandatory challenger) and Daniel Jacobs (ranked 3rd in the IBF).

Golovkin - who boasts a 38-0 record with 34 knockouts - had a hearing late last month over not agreeing to the mandatory fight. I can't understand why the IBF stripped of the title Golovkin is a big surprise for all of us.

Philly Doesn’t Care What Trump Says About the Eagles
The president disinvited the team a year ago , after Curry said the Warriors would not visit him in the White House. James called the decision by Trump "typical of him". 'It's typical of him, ' James said of Trump.

"It comes as a complete shock that the IBF would make a ruling far beyond what the Derevyanchenko side was asking for".

"Gennady has agreed to come off his 50-50 demand", Loeffler added to ESPN.

Golden Boy Promotions CEO Oscar De La Hoya said negotiations for the September bout were dead in the water on Tuesday - after Golovkin refused to back away from demanding a 50-50 split of the money.

A rematch between Golovkin and the Mexican scheduled for May of this year was cancelled after "Canelo" failed a drugs test earlier this year.

Gennady Golovkin's promoter Tom Loeffler on Canelo v Jacobs: "All I can say is that those two guys are guys GGG already beat previous year".
