Reese Witherspoon took to Instagram on Thursday to confirm that she will be bending and snapping as everyone's favorite Harvard Law graduate, Elle Woods, in Legally Blonde 3. Both comedies were critically and commercially successful, and now Reese Witherspoon will be coming back as Elle Woods for the third time.

Sharing a short clip of herself floating on a raft in a pool in what appears to be a pink sequined bikini, Witherspoon paid tribute to one of Legally Blonde's classic scenes to share the news.

Over the last number of years Witherspoon had expressed her interest in a potential return to Legally Blonde saying, "A lot of people have asked me if we're going to make another Legally Blonde, and we're thinking about it".

It's been almost two decades since Legally Blonde hit theaters.

No further details about Legally Blonde 3 have been released.

It follows reports earlier this week that a new film was close. In the 2003 sequel, Legally Blonde 2: Red, White & Blonde, Woods heads to Washington D.C.to join the staff of a congresswoman in order to pass a bill to ban animal testing.

Kirsten "Kiwi" Smith and Karen McCullah, who brought the 2001 flick to life from the original Amanda Brown novel, are in final talks to write the script now, according to Deadline.

The previous films also starred Luke Wilson, Selma Blair and Jennifer Coolidge. She said in 2015, "I think we're ready to see Elle and see what she's up to lately".
