Lyon captain Nabil Fekir is set to become Liverpool's latest signing in a £53 million (US$71 million) deal, according to British press reports on Thursday (Jun 7).

Liverpool are set to complete the signing of Nabil Fekir on Friday after meeting Lyon's €60m (£53m) valuation of the France global.

The clubs are yet to agree a fee, but talks could conclude on Friday about a deal that may amount to 60m euros - 55m plus a maximum of 5m add-ons.

Fekir will take his medical on Friday, and it is now expected that the transfer will be completed before France leave for the World Cup.

'Beat Plastic Pollution', the theme for World Environment Day 2018
Plastic pollution is the theme of this year's World Environment Day . I've replaced using plastic bottles with a metal one. But elsewhere things haven't gone so well.

However, Fekir has never started a competitive match for France so is unlikely to be a key player at the 2018 World Cup.

Having already signed Fabinho from Monaco, Jurgen Klopp is clearly looking to bolster his midfield options. Didier Deschamps' side play their final World Cup warm-up game against the United States of America in Lyon on Saturday and the manager had instructed his squad to settle any outstanding transfer business before flying to Russian Federation.

"The deal is at a standstill, there is no way forward", Aulas had claimed. "The record will certainly not close during the World Cup and I do not think there is any change before the World Cup".

"We have not set a base price because we have not discussed this yet".
