Transfer season is in full swing and a number of reports today are suggesting that Liverpool are on the verge of the shock signing Xherdan Shaqiri from Stoke City.

Shaqiri made his name at FC Basel after coming through their youth ranks before earning a move to Bayern Munich in 2012 where he helped win two Bundesliga titles and the Champions League.

According to the Mirror, Shaqiri is available for just £12.5 million this summer, after a clause inserted into his contract was activated following the Potters' relegation down to the Championship.
