  • Wreck of the Fly Sax plane that went missing. The condition of the crew and passengers is still unknown

On board were the pilot, Captain Barbra Wangeci Kamau, and First Officer and co-pilot Jean Mureithi.

Gilbert Kibe said a multi-agency team was immediately dispatched for a search and rescue operation.

"The search has been halted due in the Aberdares because of bad weather and will resume on Thursday at 6 a.m".

Authorities on Wednesday focused the search efforts on the Aberdare mountain range in central Kenya where a mobile phone signal from the plane had been located.

The plane left Kitale shortly after 4pm with eight passengers and two crew members on board and was expected in Nairobi about an hour later.

The two, who were flying at a height of 11,000 feet above sea level (approximately 3km high), were scheduled to use runway 24 at the JKIA to land.
