Trump commuted Johnson's sentence Wednesday after her cause was championed by reality TV star Kim Kardashian West in a recent visit to the White House.

Kim Kardashian West met with Donald Trump at the White House last week.

Kardashian West said she'd been moved by Johnson's story after seeing a video by the news outlet Mic. Johnson apologized for her involvement with drug dealers, but noted that she had only done it out of desperation, and that the law under which she had been sentenced had been changed since her sentencing.

"Oh my goodness, I [felt] like my feet had wings on them", she said.

Johnson was sentenced to life in prison for cocaine trafficking and was petitioning to be granted clemency.

Fixing tough sentencing laws had been a priority of former president Barack Obama's administration, but he failed to win congressional support, prompting a stream of presidential pardons and clemency actions.

Kim's low-key approach to Kanye's birthday will no doubt come as a surprise to fans as she stocked a plane with Japanese snacks and magazines for his 40th birthday past year and made him guess where they were going.

Alice Johnson was released from federal prison hours after Mr. Trump's order, with footage showing her running toward her family, throwing her arms open wide and embracing them in front of a crowd.

Val Kilmer's iconic character Iceman will return in Top Gun 2
The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that Val Kilmer will star opposite Tom Cruise in " Top Gun: Maverick " which is now filming. In 1986, Top Gun hit theaters and brought forth a collection of what would be some of the biggest stars in all of Hollywood.

And Kardashian said she tried to use her platform to help those who had been working on the case.

"We cried, maybe, on the phone for like three minutes straight", an emotional Kardashian told CNN's Van Jones, recounting her advocacy for Johnson, and her role in President Trump's decision to grant Johnson clemency on Wednesday.

Her efforts led to her meeting with Trump at the White House on May 30.

As for Johnson's next steps, she'll have regular check-ins with her parole officer and is making plans to meet Kardashian West soon.

"Telling her for the first time and hearing her screams while crying together is a moment I will never forget", she added.

"I will be a force in this fight". She was later released from an Alabama prison after serving 21 years of her life sentence for a nonviolent drug offense and money laundering charges, CNN reported. Administration officials say the president is not only contemplating possible pardons - which wipes out a conviction - but also commutations, which leave the conviction intact and on the person's record while reducing the punishment. "I know that it was a miracle".

Kardashian also asked the President's daughter for a meeting with her father.
