  • The three astronauts will be on board the Soyuz capsule

Shkaplerov, who was the first to be helped out of the Russian Soyuz space capsule, said, "We are a bit exhausted but happy with what we have accomplished and happy to be back on Earth".

Shkaplerov, Scott Tingle of the United States and Norishige Kanai of Japan touched down on the Kazakh steppe on time at 1239 GMT (8.39pm Singapore time) after a 168-day mission aboard the International Space Station. "We are glad the weather is sunny". It will return to Earth with the crew of the ISS-54/55 expedition and used in the first game of the tournament - Russian Federation versus Saudi Arabia - on June 14.

Shkaplerov will return to Moscow with a football he brought back from the space station.

Live video provided by the U.S. National Aeronautics and Space Administration showed that Kanai was the last of the three to come out of the Soyuz.

JAXA president Hiroshi Yamakawa said: "I am very pleased that Astronaut Kanai, who completed a long stay at the International Space Station (ISS), returned safely to the Republic of Kazakhstan by the Soyuz spacecraft (53S/MS-07) today".

Israel Vs Argentina Friendly Called Off Over Political Tension In Jerusalem
It added that Israel was attempting to "mislead Argentinians into believing that Jerusalem is united for the Jewish people". Jerusalem is a highly sensitive zone in the Israel-Palestine conflict.

The spacecraft will be carrying a crew of three to the world's sole orbiter, namely Russian cosmonaut Sergei Prokopyev, US astronaut Serena Aunon and German astronaut Alexander Gerst.

The crew comprising Andrew Feustel (the crew commander, USA), Oleg Artemyev (Russia) and Richard Arnold (USA) now continue their work aboard the International Space Station. He has helped to raised awareness of the ISS in Japan by tweeting in the Japanese language during his time in space.

The ISS, one of the few examples of cooperation between Russian Federation and the United States, has been in orbit since 1998, orbiting at a speed of 28,000 km/hour.

Space research has been one of the few areas of global cooperation between Russian Federation and the West that has not been wrecked by the Ukraine crisis.
