If the project does eventually complete, the pipeline expansion will nearly double Canada's production capacity in the pacific oil markets from 300,000 barrels per day (bpd) to 590,000bpd. Greater Vancouver Board of Trade CEO Iain Black, who was part of the one-day business mission to Alberta, told StarMetro if Kinder Morgan pulls the plug on Trans Mountain, it would send a bad economic signal to investors.

Tensions are certainly rising.

Reacting to the lawsuit, Notley said she wasn't surprised and that B.C.is trying to stoke uncertainty in negotiations.

With those approvals in hand, the company believed there was no reason they could not build the project.

"We need shovels in the ground", the advisory notes, which is why they'll be making the case for Team Trudeau to "step up and fulfill their constitutional roles and make this pipeline project a reality". The May 31 deadline was set with construction season limitations in mind.

"We will soon see if there is will or no will", Cousineau said.

"No minds were changed at this meeting", Moe said.

Hope to play French Open again before my career is over
The world No 1 and a two-time finalist, unsurprisingly there is plenty of focus on Halep in the build-up to the French Open . So, the 182nd-ranked Safwat made his Grand Slam debut on Court Philippe Chatrier against No. 4-seeded Grigor Dimitrov.

Morneau has already openly discussed the third option: Kinder Morgan going ahead with the project, with Ottawa covering any losses incurred.

"While they are at the premiers meeting talking about how to spend that kind of money, I'll be here in Alberta talking about how we can earn that kind of money". "It is not happening".

The power-sharing agreement between the New Democrats and the B.C. Greens included a vow to: "Immediately employ every tool available to the new government to stop the expansion of the Kinder Morgan pipeline".

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has put a lot of political capital on the project, pledging over and over again that the pipeline expansion is in national interest and will be built one way or another.

In the first inning, argues Van Lierop "coal lost to gas in the competition for power generation in North America and Europe; solar and wind lit up the scoreboard with incredible cost reductions in the second inning; but in the third, shale oil and gas rallied, creating an energy boom in USA gas and making that country the worldwide swing player - supplanting OPEC in that position". "We can ship our energy products safely or we can ship them by rail, driving up emissions and costs".

He is not the only one who thinks Trudeau is in trouble here.

Saskatchewan Premier Scott Moe said last week that he wants to speak about the pipeline's benefits when he's at the conference.
