  • Sources say the franchise will now go to open bidding as NBCU will keep 'Raw.'

This is according to a new write-up from The Hollywood Reporter, who state that NBCUniversal are keen to retain Raw in a deal that could close at up to three times the now contract's value, but will let SmackDown go to open bidding. While early reports suggested FOX was gunning for WWE's programming, the latest details a drastically different story.

It might not make much sense to keep SmackDown Live going with a unique roster but that all depends on which network they eventually land on.

Smackdown Live moved to the USA Network July of 2016, after 17 years of appearing on SyFy, MyNetworkTV, UPN and others.

Colyer and six other governors back Trump for Nobel Peace Prize
The letter was signed by the governors of South Carolina , Alabama, Kansas, Mississippi, Guam, Maine, and West Virginia.

According to Variety, frontrunners for acquiring the rights to SmackDown are FOX, Facebook and Amazon. "From our end, [we don't think] it's an issue to split it", said Barrios. We have done it before. Seven or eight years ago, it was only from one network to another network, which changed dramatically.

NBCU have held the rights to SmackDown since 2010, paying a reported $30 million for the franchise. This also means that WWE Raw will probably continue to be three hours long.
