  • Yanny or Laurel? Trump weighs in on raging internet debate

If you hear Laurel, you are hearing lower notes.

At the end of the video, President Trump has the final word: "I hear covfefe", he says, a reference to a cryptic tweet posted from his account in 2017.

Turns out, the new auditory illusion, Yanny or Laurel has been breaking the internet.

White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders also pledges her allegiance to Yanny. He's Team Yanny, guys.

Mr Trump alluded to his viral tweet previous year that ended in the world "covfefe", before it was deleted.

The never-ending Yanny vs Laurel debate has reached the White House.

The audio became viral after being shared on Reddit on Sunday by a user named Roland Camry.

Nafta Countries 'Nowhere Near Close to a Deal,' Trump's Negotiator Says
Trade worries have added to fears that the bull market in United States stocks since Trump's election may have come to an end. House Ways and Means Chairman Kevin Brady says "we're hopeful they'll continue to make progress on this agreement".

But, you have some closure to know what the original recording said.

Vice President Mike Pence even made an appearance in the clip, simply asking 'Who's Yanny?'

Intrigued, Szabo sent it to a friend who posted the clip on Instagram and created a poll that quickly went viral, triggering a mass debate that has spread internationally.

To make it more clear, humans typically pay attention to three different frequencies when they're listening to speech. The word Yanny, the second frequency, has nearly exactly the same pattern as the L, R, L in Laurel.

In addition, perception can be influenced by multiple factors such as age, sex or native language of the listener, she explained.

Squidjeep said: "These videos do well on the internet because it's really cool to see how people's brains work".

How you listen to the recording will also affect what you hear.
