  • Disclosure report shows Trump earned $40M in 2017 from DC hotel

The Trump International Hotel in D.C. opened in October 2016, less than one mile from the White House, and has become a legal headache for the president as a number of critics have said earnings from the hotel violate the emoluments cause in the Constitution.

Senior officers told U.S. news a "confrontation" with a man at the resort escalated and police shot the man. The man, who was overheard yelling about President Donald Trump, was shot multiple times and taken into custody without further incident, police said.

Eric Trump, executive vice president of the Trump organization, tweeted early Friday morning, "A huge thank you to the incredible men and women" of the departments, adding that "every day they keep our community safe".

An officer injured his arm but was not shot. That officer was taken to Baptist Hospital and is said to be in good condition.

Trump earned $40.7 million in the 2017 calendar year.
