Call of Duty has definitely changed over the last 15 years. Who knows? We might get a few World At War faces as well.
These new experiences give players new worlds in which to enjoy the Zombies theme.
We didn't get too much information about the mode as of yet -it wasn't even playable at the event - but it's expected to be a tremendous draw for fans that are looking to take on rival players in the most innovative way possible. Predicative recoil patterns have made their way into the game as well so that players can truly learn the ins and outs of weapons in order to truly master them in a PvP context. There are also new specialists that will be joining the roster like Crash, a medic who can heal allies and Torque, who has the ability to use razor wires and create improvised cover for the team.
As was also suggested months ago, there is a battle royale mode. The only sad thing I learned about the multiplayer is that it will be 5v5 instead of 6v6. We can assume we'll see it in action during E3.
Another multiplayer mode is making its debut in this new Call of Dutycalled Blackout. During the event, three maps were revealed featuring four new characters in wildly different settings. All three "experiences", as Treyarch calls them, will be available day-1. Since then, we've seen little details sprout up, including the aforementioned Zombies mode.
The rumors ended up being true after all because the Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is indeed ditching the traditional single player campaign. "They have inspired and fueled us to set a new standard on PC across every aspect from dedicated servers and security to full optimization and polish that's worthy of both Black Ops and Battle.net". This is huge for PC gamers and something a lot of fans have wanted, for years. The good news? They appear to be getting it right this time.
Developer Treyarch has also - per rumours - ditched the single player component for Black Ops 4. Hideously outdated visuals, copy and paste gameplay, and of course, no campaign.
"Going back to the very beginning of Black Ops 4 development, we never had set out to make a traditional campaign". Zero interest in Online only experiences. This means that this will be the first Call of Duty to leave out campaign.
Earlier in the interview with Yale Miller and Matt Scronce of Treyarch, the developers said that the studio has been thinking about Battle Royale for awhile, but nothing "crystalized" until the beginning of 2018.
I'm not quite sure what to make of all of this.
