Israel has come under mounting worldwide pressure after its forces opened fire on the Gaza border on Monday, killing 60 protesters who had massed alongside the fence to protest as the USA moved its embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.

On Monday, at least 62 Palestinian demonstrators were martyred and hundreds more injured by Israeli troops deployed along the other side of the border.

Israeli forces killed 60 Palestinians near the Gaza-Israel border on Monday during demonstrations against the opening of the U.S. embassy in occupied Jerusalem, in the bloodiest day in Gaza in years.

The bishops of Chile will be at the Vatican May 14-17 for meetings with Pope Francis to discuss their handling of clerical sex abuse allegations and, as Pope Francis had said, "to fix the scandal as much as possible and re-establish justice".

"I express my great sorrow for the dead and wounded and I am close through prayer and affection to all those who suffer", he added.

"I repeat that the use of violence never lead to peace".
