  • Warm, with a chance for scattered t-storms

Mother's Day turned out to be fairly active with showers and storms passing through this afternoon. A storm system over the Gulf of Mexico will push tropical moisture northward into the Carolinas. Temperatures that start the day near 70 only rise into the mid-70s under mostly cloudy skies. The chance of any one spot seeing a shower this afternoon is about 1 in 3, and the weather won't be as hot as yesterday. By Sunday and Monday, most data support the ridge flattening and allowing another front to sink southward with additional storm chances late Saturday night into Sunday morning. We will also be a touch warmer with highs returning into the mid-80s.

Wednesday: The rain chances really begin to increase with more clouds.

The high in Orlando will reach 86 degrees. After 2pm, showers and storms will be developing along and east of I-25.

We have scattered showers and a few storms this morning.

Islamic State claims attack on Indonesian policeman in Riau: Amaq
"Three officers were injured and one later died in hospital", said local police chief Nandang, who goes by one name. They followed a deadly prison riot staged by Islamist prisoners at a high-security jail near Jakarta last week.

No severe storms are expected but a few cells could produce heavy rainfall and some gusty winds along with frequent lightning.

As the low continues to trek further up out of the Gulf and toward the Panhandle, we'll see our rain chances remain likely into tomorrow.

Wednesday: Occasional showers and storms. Temperatures will be in the low 80s. Southwest winds and plenty of sunshine will boost temperatures into the low 80s this afternoon.

After a brief lull during the mid overnight hours, we should see a few spotty showers and storms develop near daybreak.
