Fans of the popular police sitcom Brooklyn Nine-Nine had an up-and-down, and some might say rough week, when it was announced by Fox on Thursday that the show would be canceled after five seasons, only to be picked up by NBC less than two days later. "I feel like we've had a really nice upswell culturally", said Andy Samberg, who plays detective Jake Peralta, in a recent interview before the cancelation was confirmed.

A follow-up question was asked about why they would cancel Brooklyn Nine-Nine and renew Last Man Standing, and the answer was that Brooklyn Nine-Nine had more hard point of entry than Last Man Standing and that Last Man Standing was averaging more than double the viewers of Brooklyn Nine-Nine week in and week out.

Throughout its five-season run, "Nine-Nine" has garnered a dedicated and vocal fan-following that has deployed to campaign against the show's cancellation in seasons past. This is the first time he has appeared as part of the NBC family since the network saved his comedy "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" from cancellation. "Ultimately, we felt like we didn't have the exact right place to schedule it this year to perform best in our Sunday night lineup".

NBC, whose sister studio Universal TV produces the Andy Samberg-starring series, was one of the potential suitors for the comedy after its cancellation. Now, the LEGO Brooklyn Nine-Nine video is a celebration of the show's return. "I was like, 'I'll never see these guys again, they'll split up, they'll go to other shows, ' I was just so hurt".

Fox Television Group co-chairs Dana Walden and Gary Newman said during a conference call Monday that the network wanted to pick up the program a year ago but did not have an appropriate spot on the schedule for it. We were trying to create a more cohesive program, and scheduling Brooklyn would prevent us from promoting something new.

"Usually January and February are periods for us where we do some treading water while "The Voice" is off between fall and spring and this year I am really thrilled about what we put together driven by unscripted shows", Greenblatt said. "We knew there were conversations that were ongoing with other platforms, and I'm really happy for that whole team".
