  • A mild dry Election Day

This course has been very good to Power and it would be a good way to kick of the month at Indy. It was the 200th career race win for the Roger Penske outfit. Behind Power, Dixon passed Wickens for second but never got the chance to steal the victory. Once Rahal came down pit road, Wickens took the lead back. For the fourth consecutive year, the race was won from the pole, all by Team Penske drivers. Seven laps later, Power's crew barely got him out of the pits in front when almost the entire field made final stops for fuel and tires under the second and last full-course caution of the race.

Will Power led the final 34 laps Saturday and pulled away for his second straight IndyCar Grand Prix win, giving Team Penske its 200th series win.

Wickens returned to open-wheel racing with Schmidt Peterson Motorsports.

This one sure wasn't as easy as some of the others, though.

Then on lap 41, Wickens brought the No. 6 down pit road for fresh blacks surrendering the lead to Power.

Three-time Indy 500 victor Dario Francitti. Fast facts: Power and Simon Pagenaud each have won twice on the Indianapolis road course, the only drivers to reach victory lane.

Will Power, who had pole position in the race, came in first, sealing his second straight Grand Prix victory. Next race: Indianapolis 500, May 27, Indianapolis Motor Speedway. All levels of Indy Car had races all leading up to incredible performance by team Penske!

The race tied an INDYCAR Grand Prix record with seven different leaders and featured 214 on-track passes with the 2018 car's universal aero kit - an increase of 96 passes from a year ago. He now ranks third all-time in IndyCar poles - 16 behind the all-time mark set by Mario Andretti. "There's been so much history, so many good drivers". The second caution waved on Lap 56 when Josef Newgarden spun trying to pass Bourdais. But they did assess a drive-thru penalty to Spencer Pigot for avoidable contact after drove over the chicane in the sixth turn and ran into Indy 500 champion Takuma Sato.

Oops; Gap apologizes for T-shirt's wrong China map
It also apologised for "this unintentional mistake and is now conducting internal investigations to quickly rectify this mistake". While Taiwan is self-governed, only a minority of countries recognize its sovereignty as a nation independent of China.

Chilton, who only made his IndyCar debut in 2016, admits he was "kicking himself" after failing to hold onto his lead previous year but is confident he can build on those foundations.

Pole winners have won each of the last three races on Indianapolis' road course - with Power taking two of those three.

It's the only vehicle in the first two days of the month to have an engine problem.

Verizon IndyCar Series point standings: Newgarden 178, Rossi 176, Bourdais 152, Dixon 147, Hinchcliffe 144, Rahal 142, Power 135, Wickens 133, Hunter-Reay 125, Andretti 105.

With 10 to go, his lead had grown to 1.5 seconds and all he had to do was keep fuel in his cell. The first red flag waved when smoke started billowing from the back of Marco Andretti's No. 98 vehicle. A few minutes after practice resumed, the action was stopped when geese appeared in the 12th turn.

Simon Pagenaud, a two-time victor of Grand Prix, finished eighth on Saturday and Heilo Castroneves, a three-time victor of the Indy 500, was 10th in his first IndyCar race of the 2018 season.

The Grand Prix, both days of Qualifying and the race from the Verizon IndyCar Series will all be available to BT Sport subscribers this May.
