  • Lavrov: Russia to remain in Iran nuclear deal

President Donald Trump announced the U.S. withdrawal from the 2015 nuclear deal on Tuesday.

German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas has said that the United States' withdrawal from the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), also known as the Iran nuclear deal, damaged the transatlantic relations in the long-term perspective, Der Spiegel magazine reported Friday.

It won't be easy to protect German firms that continue business cooperation with Iran after the United States has made a decision to introduce restrictive measures against the country, Foreign Minister Heiko Maas said on Sunday, Sputnik reported. At the same time, he was critical of Moscow's response to an ex-Russian spy's poisoning in Britain and raised the issue of Russian hacking attacks. He said another agreement with Iran should be signed. During the consultations in Tehran, the issue of maintaining the agreement on the Iranian nuclear program was discussed, as well as overcoming the consequences of U.S. economic sanctions on Tehran.

"We believe that it is important to keep the agreement, as it is the only deal, which formally deters Iran from implementing nuclear weapons program", Maas said at a briefing following Maas's meeting with his Latvian, Lithuanian and Estonian counterparts in the Lithuanian city of Palanga, adding that if the agreement is broken it may jeopardize regional peace and security.

Germany was looking for more information from Washington about the fresh punitive measures it was considering, Maas said.

Chili's Bar & Grill reports customer data breach
Brinker International, the owner off the restaurant chain, said Friday data was breached at undisclosed "certain" locations. We deeply value our relationships with our Guests and sincerely apologize to those who may have been affected.

"It is important to learn about the rules concerning the so called secondary effects, that is, what does it mean for a European company's America business if it continues to do business with Iran", Maas said.

"Without doubt we will make sure firstly that this does not destroy the JCPOA".

Earlier this week, the pro-Iranian Al-Quds forces deployed in Syria launched no less than 20 missiles and other projectiles at the advanced positions of Israeli Army units on the Golan Heights.

Lavrov said Moscow had urged Iran and its arch-enemy Israel to avoid acts that could lead to a spiral of Middle East conflict in the wake of Trump's announcement.
