  • The militant attack is the latest in a series across Afghanistan this year

As per AFP reports, terrorists stormed a government building and detonated bombs. No one has claimed responsibility for the attack.

Afghanistan has always been suffering from political, social and security instability, primarily due to the hostilities between government troops and the Taliban radical movement, which seeks to establish strict Sharia law in the country.

There were multiple blasts as they fought off security forces in a gun battle that lasted much of the day. That attack, also claimed by Daesh, followed much the same pattern as Sunday's incident.

Attahullah Khogyani, spokesman for the governor of Nangarhar province, said eight civilians, including three finance department employees, were killed in the vehicle bomb attack.

A public office in eastern Afghanistan came under an armed attack on Sunday, officials said.

The assault came days after suicide bombers and gunmen launched apparently coordinated attacks on two Kabul police stations Wednesday, killing at least ten people.

Earlier, he said the attack had been carried out by four attackers and that there had been two explosions.

Dozens of people have been killed in voter registration centres in recent weeks, leading to fears that people could stay away from elections that are seen as a major test of the government's credibility.

Afghan security forces have struggled to combat the Taliban and IS since the USA and North Atlantic Treaty Organisation formally concluded their combat role in the country in 2014, shifting to a support and counterterrorism mission.
